1. HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

I feel that my media product which is a music magazine presents the gendre female at the ages of 12-17, I felt that by using the correct colour scheme and appopriate subtitles and pictures and what the magazine has to offer represents teenage girls who are highly interested in young boy bands and appopriate role models/singers such as Taylor Swift and Jessie J as their music lyrice normally relate to problems that teenagers expereince throughout that age period.

2. WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

The audience/target audience for my magazine would be teenage girls aged 12-17 who are very interested in reading weekly fashion and problems, and that are interested in new bands!

analysing contents pages 17/2/2012

The purpose of a contents page is to inform people of other stories present within that particular magazine and it normally provides a page number on which the audience can find that story. I learnt in class that the purpose of a contents page was to give the reader control over the magazine because it lets them choose what they want to read.

CONTENTS PAGES 16/2/2011

I choose these different types of magazine contents pages because i found that they where most relevant to my target audience.

THE RISK UNCUT.

Born and raised in the Welsh mountains, The Risk’s main inspiration in life is to be the next “Take That” double act and their passion for lyrics is so unbelievable Beatz is proud to introduce THE RISK to the music industry and most importantly to the world of teenage girls. The Risk made up of best friends Jack Roberts (guitarist and lyrics writer) and Trafford Squire (guitarist and lead singer). Both born and raised in South Wales located in the small sunny town of Abergavenny, the boys both 16 at the time studied in King Henry and both achieved 11 GCSE’s each grades ranging from A*-C.

The idea of becoming a double act was inspired by their music teacher Mr.Hill who encouraged and persuaded the boys to undertake music at GCSE because he described the boys talent as, “Unique” and he claimed that they would be the future, as the parents of both Jack and Trafford looked at him with uncertainty they were unaware of their sons musical talents. The boys first came together on the 23 July 2010 and decided to enter themselves in the summer talent show where they performed a Coldplay classic and nailed themselves 2nd place. With cheers and claps from the crowd the boys knew from that moment onwards that this was their calling and decided to pursue their dreams and go from there.

With spending most of their Tuesday lunchtimes in the music room, their hard work and commitment finally paid off in the Winter of 2010 with their parents not knowing Jack and, Trafford entered themselves in the UK talent competition ‘The X factor’ as original band name ‘The Risk’, “Sitting for eight hours in Cardiff with thousands of talented singers and musicians around you is quite intimidating, but Jack just kept on reassuring me because he is a fighter.

I think that’s what I love about him the most his passion for music.” said lead singer Trafford Squire. Their audition took place at 5:39pm 14 November in front of Simon Cowl, former Girls Aloud band member Cheryl Cole, Westlife and Boyzone manager Louis Walsh and Danni Minogue. All though they performed, “amazingly and magically” as Cheryl Cole described them it wasn’t enough to gain three yes’ from the Judges leaving the boys packing there stuff and heading back home to Abergavenny.
BUT before the boys left the building a musical miracle happened Jack and Trafford were called back to the Judges room where Louis Walsh offered them a chance to travel to Ireland and to give a private audition in front of Louis Walsh himself again and also the rest of his producing team to see if he could create something unique and individual. “They were too musically talented to let them walk away, but their vocals were letting them down. I know with a bit of tweaking and some adjustments I can make them superstars” said Louis Walsh.

“My dad never believed I could make it but I knew I’d prove him wrong”, says guitarist and lyrics writer Jack Roberts “Lyrics are my life, they inspire me to do things which I wouldn’t consider doing in life.” The 6ft 2, jet black hair and chestnut eyed boy... A girl’s fantasy summed up in one. “I learnt from my music teacher and from my girlfriend that everything you ever work for can be taken away from you tomorrow, I know that me and Trafford are only 18 and we are young but that’s what makes us crazy because we have taken a ‘Risk’ and we will prove to every boy, girl, teacher, parent, stranger, team mate, band member, class mate, dinner lady to everyone that ever doubted us that if you put your mind to something you can achieve it.”

The boy’s new album “Getting There” will be released on the 20th February 2012. The album consists of chart topper and most watched youtube video 2011 single “Love is life”. This gained number 1 in the charts for 11 weeks beating Rhianna when the single “Umbrella” took the charts for just only 8 weeks in 2009. The single “Love is life” was written by boy band member himself Jack Roberts we asked some questions to see what inspired him mostly to write such a talented emotional song.

Shannon: Hey Jack, how are you feeling today?
Jack: Hey im good thanks feeling a bit tired last night from going out and watching the new movie premier twighlight. Have you seen it yet? It’s awesome.
Shannon: (Laughs) No I haven’t actually not yet. I must put it in my diary and go see it sometime. Anyway tell us about the hit single “Love is Life”.
Jack: Well what’s to know about it?
Shannon: Well tell us what the lyrics are about and what inspired you to write such a chart topper of a song.
Jack: Well Shannon I guess the main inspiration of that song would be my Mum.
Shannon: Your mum? Explain.
Jack: Well see the thing is I haven’t had the best of childhoods with my mum constantly working and my dad being away all the time. She seemed to do a lot on her own and she came across as a single parent, and well basically I love her to bits. She did so much for me and my two elder sisters and I just well, im not sure she just inspired me some how (Laughs) because she always managed to cope no matter what the situation was.
Shannon: Ahh I see well that’s lovely. Could I ask one last question? Before I head off if that’s ok?
Jack: Of course anything...
Shannon: What is your favorite sentence or lyric out of that song?
Jack: “You made me the person I was, because you kept so strong over the years”.
Shannon: Ahh thank you Jack im sure we will be having a lot more interviews in the future.
Jack: (Puts his right thumb up and leaves the room) Bye for now (Laughs).

The boys new tour dates will be released on the 8th of October 2012 ready for 2013. The “Getting There” tour will be taking place over 9 different Cities throughout the United Kingdom in the months of February till May.
